Custom Medical Art using components that were once inside of a person. (It’s not as weird as it sounds)
(Repost from previous ORW website – Original posting 2018)
Wood = Cherry from Iowa
Metal = Medical Equipment (from a customer’s surgeries)
All of that metal was on the INSIDE of a PERSON at one time !!!!
I was commissioned to create a piece honoring a survivor of a intensive back surgery. the former ‘host’ of all of these metal pieces had them left after a full recovery. Her significant other asked me to create something unique to mark this achievement. I worked to incorporate a natural, yet invasive feel, using natural wood, and the un-natural fasteners to create this unique piece.
