Worker Bees and the Kahuna Tiki-King Hive

Warm August day and the worker bees are busy in the left hive. That is a 2nd year colony, and they are looking good. The bees in the Tiki hive on the right are a first-year colony and they seem to be struggling. Hopefully they can build up enough to get through the winter.

Yes, the bees fly in and out through the Tiki mouth. I thought about also making nostril holes, but then I would have to plug them with wine corks in the winter. (I thought it would look silly, and Kahuna said ‘NO’ to that option)
